Whichever kind of pet you own, Madison Veterinary Hospital can supply boarding care while you are away from home. We have completely separate areas for dogs, cats, birds and exotic pets, all housed in fully climate-controlled and scrupulously clean indoor facilities. We provide safe, immaculate and comfortable lodging, as well as caring and affectionate attention for your special family member.

With the proximity of qualified veterinary staff, you can have complete peace of mind that if your pet requires medication or becomes ill, his or her needs can be dealt with effectively and immediately. A complimentary limited examination is provided to all pets by one of our veterinary technicians to ensure wellness at the time of admission.

• Cat Boarding

  Our cat boarding area was completely renovated recently. This bright and airy environment is separate from the rest of the hospital . . . so tranquil! There are no barking dogs to worry our feline friends. Multi-level condos are available to allow boarding together of several cats from the same household or just to allow more space for our more pampered inhabitants! The cat ward has continuous piped-in music and videos featuring fish and birds to keep our occupants occupied. A large observation window allows the viewing of the birds in our exotics ward.

• Dog Boarding

  Our brand new dog boarding facility was recently completed. It features 49 individual stainless steel enclosed runs, all with resting benches. Skylights, piped-in music, air-conditioning, ceiling fans and a noise control system create a cheery environment. We even have several runs.

  For those owners whose pets are not patients of MVHPA, please be prepared to provide current vaccination certificates including semi-annual Bordetella (kennel cough) vaccination for dogs. Don't forget the huge advantage to boarding your pet in a veterinary facility where, in the event of any unexpected illness, a doctor is only a few steps away.

• Exotics Boarding

  Birds, reptiles and small furry creatures entrusted to our care while you are away are housed in special environmentally controlled accommodations with timed lighting. Even the largest parrots are housed in complete comfort. These facilities complement our medical and surgical expertise in the care of avian and exotic pets.

• Vaccines:

  Of course, as with all boarding kennels, we must have proof that all vaccines are up-to-date: Bordetella (Kennel Cough), Rabies & Distemper/ Parvovirus for dogs; Rabies and Distemper/Respiratory Diseases for cats. We recommend necessary vaccines to be given at least ten days before admission to enhance immunity. If your busy schedule precludes vaccination prior to admission, we offer the services of a staff veterinarian to examine your pet and administer the vaccine(s). In this case a 'Brief Examination' fee will be incurred.

• Arrival and Checkout:

  Your pet may arrive here any time from 8:15 a.m. until 15 minutes before closing Monday through Saturday; checkout is after 2 p.m. daily. We are closed on Sundays and major holidays. After you pick up your pet, dogs in particular

• Diets:

  We feed Hill's premium diets to all our boarding guests. Feel free to bring your own food or bottled water if your pet is on a diet which you do not wish to be altered. We can feed prescription diets suitable for kidney disease, heart disease, etc., or any other special dietary foods, for a small additional charge.

• Medical Conditions:

  Since our staff is very familiar with dealing with medical conditions, it does not present any problem to administer medication or other treatments. There will usually be additional charges in these cases. We can accommodate diabetic animals and their needs for insulin injections and blood glucose testing. Diabetic pets will stay in the hospital and will be charged the regular hospitalization rate. We can also perform dentistry, surgery or other medical procedures for your pet while you are away. Should specific veterinary care be necessary, the appropriate fees will be charged.

• Multiple Pet Discount:

  We now offer a 15% discount for two pets or more from the same family. If you prefer we can even honor requests to have more than one pet of the same species boarded together, though we will ask you to sign a release since disagreements can occur even between brothers and sisters!

• Please Note:

  You may want to bring familiar bedding or toys from home, though we do not encourage this, as loss or damage may occur.
  We reserve the right to refuse boarding services based upon health or temperament.

Additional Services:

• Daily Walks: Your dog can be walked outside the hospital building once or twice daily. You will need to sign a release for this service.
• Daily Brushing: If your cat or dog likes being pampered, we can arrange daily brushing.
• Dog Treat: We can give your dog a strong rubber toy stuffed with a very tasty special treat, either daily or as often as you wish.
• Cat Toy: For cats, we have catnip mouse toys available for their special treat.
• Discounted Bathing: For any pet staying with us in excess of 3 nights, we offer a regular bath on the day of checkout for 50% off the usual fee.

Professional grooming can be scheduled on the day of discharge at Madison Feed and Grooming, situated on the lower level. Clients must make a prior reservation by calling Madison Feed and Grooming at 973-377-6772. Simple economical bathing is always available through the veterinary hospital.

Fees and Payment:

A credit card number is needed to secure your reservation for boarding. We take a two-day deposit for your pet's stay, which is fully refundable if the reservation is cancelled at least ten days prior to the period requested. We accept Master Card/Visa and Discover as well as personal checks. All bills for boarding services must be settled at pick-up. Please ask us for our current fees; all boarding charges are calculated on a 'per night' basis.

As with all our facilities, you are welcome to come inspect and view where your special friend will be staying while you are away.
